For the 4th year running, Video Illusions have provided full video production and VJs for the ever growing number of hexagons which make up Noisily Festival of Music and Arts most psychedelic corner, The Liquid Stage.
We installed 13 of our IP rated 6mm LED panels, each set separately into the facade of the stage which would either extend or mirror our central screen located behind the DJ. This larger 3.2 x 2.9m main screen was masked by a hexagonal lighting truss. Our team of six VJs were let loose on the stage over the three days, each bringing their own style to the area while feeding off the madness and energy of the crowds which consistently swarmed the stage over the weekend.
The design was extended this year by our friends over at Lucid Illusions who brought a set of their custom LED bars, arranged to mimic the structure of molecules emanating from the centre and almost wrapping around the revellers below.
A new aspect of this year’s festival required our expertise in the remarkably calmer Mind Body and Soul area. Acclaimed artist Zarah Hussain had donated her recent projection piece ‘Numina” to the festival. Originally commissioned by The Barbican and displayed in their foyer for four months last year, the piece is a complex and imposing 16ft geometric sculpture. We vertically stacked two 15,000 lumen projectors with short throw lenses to produce a bright and crisp image of the slowly evolving video content. The intricate geometry of the sculpture and detailed content required careful adjustment by our technician late into the evening. Once perfected, the piece ran each night of Noisily, mesmerising the festival goers as they walked past to the main arena.
Noisily Festival has always been a highlight of our summer calendar, we love its intimate size, sustainable ethos and wonderful participants. We look forward to helping the festival and Liquid Stage grown into new mind-expanding territory in future years.
